Wilnetha "Neany" (Smedley) Thompson

Mrs. Wilnetha “Neany” J. Thompson age 82 of Salem passed away Saturday, March 12 at Salem Crossing.

Mrs. Thompson was born December 6, 1933 in Salem the daughter of Floyd and Ella Howell Smedley.  She was the owner of the old Candy Kitchen in Salem and a homemaker.

On February 23, 1962 she married Dick Thompson.  She is survived by her husband:  Dick Thompson of Salem, a son:  Dick Thompson Jr. (Diana) of Yankton, South Dakota, two daughters:  Sandi Gilstrap of Salem and Gina Thompson of Louisville, 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers:  William Floyd Smedley Jr., Lawrence “Corky” Smedley and and infant, Billy Jasper Smedley, and one sister:  Leneta “Skeeter” Wallace.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00PM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 10AM-time of service.
