Wanda June (Batt) Fisher

Mrs. Wanda June Batt Fisher age 85 of Salem died Monday, June 29 at 5:55PM at Salem Crossing.

Mrs. Fisher was born May 1, 1930 in Vernon Township, Washington County, Indiana at 6:00PM to Osborne and Bethel Chastain Batt.  Her grandparents were Lem and Hattie Bush Chastain and Tommy and Etta Mae Hoar Batt.  Wanda graduated from Salem High School in 1948, then attended Beauty School in Indianapolis and coming back to her hometown to work and eventually owning her own beauty shop on South High Street. Wanda also worked for Dan-Mar Pharmacy.  On September 25, 1949 she was married to Robert E. Fisher at the First Christian Church.  He preceded her in death in 1995.

Wanda was a charter member of Theta Kappa Chapter of Phi Beta Psi Sorority, serving as secretary-treasurer the year it was organized until May 28, 1974.  She was also a member of the hospital auxiliary, serving as President from 2000-2002.  She was also auxiliarian of the year in 2008. Wanda was a member of First Christian Church, which she joined on April 25, 1942.

Wanda is survived by two sons:  Mark E. Fisher of Eustis, Florida and Trent Fisher (Katherine) of Salem,  four grandchildren:  Jennifer Holmes, Jason Fisher, Sarah Fisher and Adam Fisher and two great-grandchildren:  Billy and Austin Holmes.

In addition to her husband, Wanda was also preceded in death by a brother:  Marvin E. Batt and her parents.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30AM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8PM and Friday from 9AM-time of service.
