Verlin D. Bowman age 85 of Salem, Indiana died September 17, 2017 at Baptist East Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mr. Bowman was born January 23, 1932 in Paynesville, Indiana the son of Amos and Stella Mattox Bowman. He graduated from Paynesville High School, Paynesville, Indiana in 1951 and was a member of Paynesville Christian Church but attended Canton Christian Church for the past several years.
He was an auto mechanic, owner of a milk route, and retired from Eddie Gilstrap Motors, Salem. He was an Army veteran. He has resided in both Salem and Louisville for many years.
Verlin married Annabelle Akin in 1986, who survives him. Other survivors include three step-children: Thomas Andrew (Georgia) Akin of Columbia, Kentucky, Karen Susanne Akin of Louisville, Kentucky, and Troy Matthew Akin of Sumersville, Kentucky, and one step-granddaughter: Stefanie Annell (Ahsan) Zia of Louisville, Kentucky, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Ruth Phillips of Casper, Wyoming, and a brother: Gwen Bowman of Chelsea, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00AM at Canton Christian Church with Toney Voyles and Paul Martin officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8PM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors.
