Reverend Claude Lawson age 84 of Salem went to Heaven Sunday, January 27 at 5:18PM at St. Vincent Hospital.
Reverend Lawson was born August 15, 1928 in Liberty, Kentucky the son of Riley and Telitha Lawson. He was a former truck driver, police officer, and assistant pastor in Michigan before moving to Salem and starting and pastoring Faith Christian Center. He attended Marshall Avenue Church. He was an Army veteran and a graduate and lifeime alumni of Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Genevieve Lancaster Lawson. They were married October 27, 1950. He is also survived by a son: Mark Lawson (Riva) of Salem, two daughters: Claudia Brown (David) of Juneau, Wisconsin and Christina Lindburgh (Tony) of Salem, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00AM at Weathers Funeral Home with Pastor Amos Mills, Reverend Tony Vinson and Reverend Clifton Coulter officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8PM and Wednesday from 8AM-time of service.
