Raymond C "RC" Terry

Mr. Raymond C. “RC” Terry age 99 of Salem passed away Friday, October 28 at his home.

Mr. Terry was born June 24, 1917 in Lee County, Virginia the son of Wilbur Kelsey and Ethel Carrie Taylor Terry. He was a retired coal miner and former employee of Riverview Farms in Orleans. He was a member of Syria Christian Church.

RC is survived by his wife: Sara “Ann” Keeling Hortenberry Terry of Salem. They were married November 1, 2003. He is also survived by six daughters: Peggy Taylor of Nickelsville, Virginia, Brenda Cave (Charles) of Mt. Carmel, Tennessee, Judy Wilder (Duane Nicholson) of Paoli, Ann Moffatt (Danny) of Orleans, Lillian Hager (Keith) of Orleans, and Fearl Kirk (Walter) of Orleans, three step-sons: Rick Hortenberry (Melita) of Pekin, Donald Keith Hortenberry (Teresa) of Pekin and Brad Hortenberry of Arkansas, two step-daughters: Anna Anderson of Lake Station, Indiana and Tina Hortenberry of Salem, two brothers: Dick Terry and Joe Terry both of Jonesville, Virginia, a sister: Nadine Bunn of Richmond, Virginia, 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 12 step great-grandchildren and 1 step great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Willie Elizabeth Terry. He then married Frances Terry and she also preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a son: Raymond Carson Terry, 3 brothers, 6 sisters, 2 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and his parents.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00PM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Syria Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8PM and Tuesday from 9AM-time of service.
