Phillip Ray Cornwell

Phillip Ray Cornwell, 60, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021 in Clearwater, Florida with his loving family by his side. He was born on February 27, 1961 in Salem, Indiana, to Marvin and Martha (Banks) Cornwell.

Phillip’s loving personality made him a friend to all he came into contact with. He was a member of the Salem Masonic Lodge #21 and Westview Christian Church. He was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1979. Most of his career was spent with Pepsi-Cola, but most recently he was the regional branch manager for Keurig Dr. Pepper for Central Florida. Phillip enjoyed sitting on the dock of the bay and thinking about the many ways his "life is good". Family was important to Phillip. His grandchildren brought joy to his life and he cherished every moment he had with them.

On August 18, 1984, Phillip married the love of his life, Valerie Gibbs, and they raised two wonderful sons, Devin and Derek, together. He is survived by his wife and parents; sister, Diane Cornwell; sons, Devin (Cassandra) Cornwell, and Derek (Ashley) Cornwell; grandchildren, Nolan, Harper, Nickoli, Madison, and another grandson on the way; nieces, Lizetta (Ethan) Smith and Alexandra Cornwell; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harold and Letha Banks; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Ruth Cornwell; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be at Weathers Funeral Home in Salem, Indiana, on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Cornwell officiating and a graveside service at Stampers Creek Cemetery in Paoli, Indiana to follow.  The funeral service will be live streamed on Weathers Funeral Home Facebook page for those that would prefer to watch online.

Family and friends may call at Weathers Funeral Home on Sunday, April 11, 2021 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. or on April 12 from 11:00 to time of service.

Memorials may be written to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association in care of Weathers Funeral Home.
