Perre Edmon Burns

Perre Edmon Burns, Sr., of Salem, Indiana, passed away on January 13, 2023. He was born in 1946 and was a beloved father, stepfather, and grandfather.

Perre was preceded in death by his mother Clara Marie Burns and Father Edmon Burns of Salem. He is the father of Perre Burns II and stepfather to Todd Fry, Darren Elkins, and Jason Beal. He was also the proud grandfather of Grant and Jake Burns, of Lebanon, and numerous step grandchildren.  Perre served honorably as an US Army interrogator in Vietnam in 1968-1969 where he earned numerous commendations including two bronze star awards.

After military service, Perre spent four decades in public accounting and was an avid woodworker and carpenter for much of his life.   At 6’5” and with a deep voice, Perre had a presence in any room. But his quiet humility was always on display. He was a kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor who was loved by all who truly knew him.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1PM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be Friday from 10 AM-time of service.
