Mr. Patrick “Pat” A. Rice age 74 of Salem passed away Saturday, October 6 at his home.

Mr. Rice was born November 16, 1943 in Carmel, Indiana the son of Carl and Mary Jane Henricks Rice.  He was retired from General Motors, Allison Division in Indianapolis after 30 years.  He was the former Washington County Veteran Service Officer for 15 years.  He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Avon, Indiana and attended Salem Community Church.  He was a Vietnam War Marine Veteran.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 41 for 33 years, 20 of those as Commander.  He was also a member of VFW Men’s Auxiliary, Marine Corps Association for 15 years, and UAW for 50 years.

He is survived by his wife:  Colleen Bourne Rice of Salem.  He is also survived by one son:  Patrick H. Rice of Salem, four daughters:  Michelle Rice Chisholm of Salem, Sherri Reffeitt (Tony) of Brownsburg, Janie Dickey (Eric) of Hampton, Virginia and Katelynn Campbell (Cory) of Salem, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death a daughter:  Keri Rice, a brother:  John Rice and his parents.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10:30AM at Salem Community Church.  Graveside services with military honors and interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Salem Community Church to further the work of the gospel.  Salem Community Church, 190 W. Becks Mill Road Salem, IN  47167.
