Mr. Morris E. “Chigger” Strange age 86 of Salem passed away Sunday, October 15 at his home.
Mr. Strange was born August 19, 1931 in Livonia the son of Oscar and Mary Gardner Strange. He retired from the US Army after 38 ½ years as a Master Sergeant. He then went to work for John Jones GM City as a courtesy driver and after retiring, still checked on his co-workers daily. He was a member of the Salem Moose Lodge #2380 and VFW #6636. He was avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan and also enjoyed watching sports.
He is survived by his daughters: Pamela Murphy of Mission Viejo, California and Penny Strange of Salem, his former wife and friend: June Strange of Salem, one sister: Anna Kathleen Strange Babbs of Scottsburg, four grandchildren: Katelynn MacIntyre, Dillon Murphy, Clayton Endris and Brennan Endris, a great-grandchild: Cole Endris, and his dog: Joetta. He was preceded in death by his son: Ronnie Strange, brothers: Ernest Gilbert Strange, Charles Strange, Oscar Junior Strange, and Harold Ray Strange, sisters: Frances Strange May and Vivian Strange Sodrel and his parents.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 6:30PM at Weathers Funeral Home. Cremation will follow and burial will be in Horner’s Chapel Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-time of service at the funeral home.
