Morris Jean Rosenbaum, 85 of Salem, Indiana entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday March 13, 2022. Morris was born in Campbellsburg, Indiana to the late Ray and Hazel (Green) Rosenbaum on July 27, 1936. He graduated from Campbellsburg High School in 1955. Morris worked for American Airlines. He married Martha Mae Bush on June 14, 1958. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea.
After returning from military duty, he went to school full-time at Indiana University while working full-time to pay for his schooling. Morris received his B.S. degree from I.U in 1963, his M.S. from Indiana State and an Ed.S. from IU. From 1967 -1973 he taught business at Salem High School. In 1973 he became an Administrative Assistant for Salem Community Schools and in 1976 he became the Assistant Superintendent of Salem Community Schools. In 1981 he became Superintendent until 1990. Of all his roles in education he enjoyed teaching the most and returned to the classroom to teach accounting from 1991-1994. Morris retired in 1994.
Morris was a founding board member of the Washington County YMCA serving as Vice-President and Financial Manager. He has also served on the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Salem Exchange Club for many years. He was a volunteer at the Washington County Food bank for 20 years and had also served on the Washington County Health Board. He was a member of the Washington County Community Foundation and the Retired Teachers’ Association. Morris had been a member of the First Christian Church of Salem and Mt. Tabor Christian Church of Campbellsburg.
Morris had a positive attitude towards life that endeared him to loved ones and friends. He never knew a stranger and believed loving God, family and people was fundamental in life. He liked volunteering and enjoyed helping others and was interested in helping young people work toward a better life.
Morris is survived by his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Martha; children, Melissa McCullough (John) and Michelle Stancombe (Darren); grandchildren, Daniel McCullough, David McCullough, Maggie McCullough, Lyndon Yoder, Sheldon Yoder and Sarah Yoder.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 19 from Noon-2PM at Mt. Tabor Christian Church. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday at 2PM at Mt. Tabor Christian Church. Private burial was held with military honors in Crown Hill Cemetery.
