Melinda Lee Clark, 60, Salem, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, with her loving family by her side, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital.
Melinda was born on September 11, 1962, in Salem, the daughter of Marvin and Sandy (Fletcher) Clark. She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Salem High School; Ivy Tech - LPN; University of the State of New York- Associate in Science; McKendree College - Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Indiana Wesleyan --Master of Science Nurse Practitioner

but it does take a lot of work.”
The dream to become a nurse to help people became a lifelong journey and mission as a young girl in elementary school. She worked in long-term care for over 25 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse and later a Registered Nurse in various positions including Director of Nursing. She worked as a nursing consultant and weekend supervisor while finishing her Master of Science degree to become a Nurse Practitioner. She has worked for 15 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner with the Ascension Medical Group. Her office was in Salem. Melinda made her dream come true.
In 2018 she was selected to receive an Indiana Torchbearer Award, just one of twelve from across the state honored by the Indiana Commission for Women. The Torchbearer Award recognizes women who have been pioneers throughout their lives. She was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society.
She was an avid NASCAR Fan and traveled to many races throughout the years. She enjoyed her pets, Bo, a black toy poodle and her cats, Missy and Stella.
She is survived by her parents and twin sons, Jared (Misty) Clark, of Salem, and Jeremy (Media) Clark, of Salem, and was a best friend and Granny to her grandchildren Jaden and Makailee; sisters, Melanie (Nick) Day, of Lanesville, and Marcy Hamilton, Salem; brother, Marvin, Jr. (Dawn) Clark, of Salem; step-grandchildren, Tyler, Barry, Tanner, Isaiah, Channing; step-great-grandchildren, Mason, Carson, Thomas, Charlotte; nephews, RK, Kyle, Klayton, Noah; nieces, Rachel, Riki, Kaci, Hali; great-nephews, Colin, Odin; great-niece, Caroline.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ellsworth and Minnie Clark and maternal grandparents, Floyd and Frances Fletcher.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
