Martha Frances (Smith) Harding
March 18, 1938 — February 22, 2015
Mrs. Martha F. Harding age 76 of Salem passed away Sunday, February 22 at her home. Mrs. Harding was born March 18, 1938 in Lyons, Indiana the daughter of John E. and Pansy L. Fearnot Smith. She was a bookkeeper for The Rug Shop and Decorating Center in Lafayette and co-owner and bookkeeper for Shadeland Mobile Home Park in Lafayette and West Lawn Village in West Lafayette. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Martha married David “Tom” Harding on December 19, 1959 and he preceded her in death on February 13, 2015. She was also preceded in death by four brothers: John E. Smith Jr, Joseph Smith, Charles Smith and Phillip Smith, a sister: Lois A. Whitchurch and her parents. She is survived by her son: William Joseph Harding of Salem, three brothers: James E. Smith and Ronald L. Smith both of Lafayette and Wilbur R. Smith of Delphi, Indiana, three sisters: Carolyn Sue Jones of Salem, Dolly Bennett of Fort Collins, Colorado and Joanne Martin of Bloomington and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00AM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, near Bloomfield. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8PM and Friday from 9AM-time of service.
