Magel I (Johns) Walton

Mrs. Magel I. Walton age 94 of Salem passed away Monday, March 7 at her home.
Mrs. Walton was born July 30, 1921 in Washington County, Indiana the daughter of Oren and Annabelle Chastain Johns. She was a retired employee of B.F. Goodrich. She was a member of Smedley Church of Christ and Washington County Historical Society.
Magel married Arthur R. Walton on July 20, 1940 and he preceded her in death on December 5, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her son: David Walton, a brother: James Johns and her parents: Oren and Annabelle Johns. She is survived by four sons: Donald Walton and Ronald Walton both of Salem, John Walton (Karen) of Sellersburg and Dan Walton (Carol) of New Albany, three daughters: Rose Ann Roberts (Jim), Sharon Robinson (Cleveland), and Nancy Walton all of Salem, daughter-in-law: Freda Walton of Salem, brothers: Kenneth “Duke” Johns of North Carolina, John Oren Johns of Indianapolis, sisters: Garnelle Stephenson of Salem and Margaret Chastain of Alabama, 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00AM at Smedley Church of Christ with Brother Johnathan Purkhiser officiating. Burial will follow in Smedley Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8PM at Weathers Funeral Home and Wednesday from 10AM-time of service at the church.
