Mr. Luther Laverne Voyles age 96 of Salem died Sunday, February 8 at 6:20PM at The Waters of Scottsburg.
Mr. Voyles was born October 20, 1918 in Washington County, Indiana the son of Otto and Edith Martin Voyles.
On June 10, 1942 he married the former Marie Jones who died March 21, 1999. He later married Kathleen Miller Marshall who died September 4, 2011.
Luther served in the US Army during WWII as a military policeman. He was a farmer until retirement. Early in his teen years, Luther dedicated his life to the Lord and was baptized at Kansas Church of Christ and was a member of Martinsburg Church of Christ at the time of his death.
He leaves to mourn his passing: two sons: Paul Voyles (Janet) and George Voyles (Wilma) both of Salem, two daughters: Anita Zink (Lannie) of Campbellsburg and Gina James (Tom) of Seymour, a step-son: Robert Marshall (Kathy) of Kansas City, Kansas, a sister: Laura Mae Thixton of Salem, four grandsons, five granddaughters, five great-granddaughters, twelve great-grandsons, and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Martin Voyles and a son-in-law: Jerry Walton.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00PM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8PM and Thursday from 9AM-time of service.
