Leon Elmo Zink

June 1, 1939 — January 15, 2013

Mr. Leon Elmo Zink age 73 of Salem passed away Tuesday, January 15 at 2:08PM at his home.

Mr. Zink was born June 1, 1939 in Pekin, Indiana the son of Hollis Andrew and Iva Belle Terrell Zink.  He retired from the  U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel after 34 years of service.  He was the former owner of Zink Furniture.  He was a member of Salem (High Street) Church of Christ, VFW, American Legion and Rotary International where he was a past District Governor and a Paul Harris Fellow.

He is survived by his wife:  Judith Dian Ooley Zink.  They were married September 20, 1958.  He is also survived by a son:  Gregory Zink (Cindy) of Salem, a daughter:  Susan Katt (Doug) of Salem, seven grandchildren:  Maleah Hamilton (Jack), Andrew Katt, Malachi Zink, Chelsea Katt, Jared Chastain (Jackie), Brock Chastain (Carrie) and Tyson Chastain (Mandy), and seven great grandchildren:  Scout Hamilton, Kade Chastain, Jeffrey Burch, Kolton Chastain, Addie Chastain, Addi Bundy and Payslea Chastain.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister:  Marcella Bush and a special uncle:  Elmo Zink.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00PM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8PM and Friday from Noon-time of service.
