Laura Elsie Sowder, age 90 of Salem, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025 in her home.

Mrs. Sowder was born February 14, 1935 in London, Kentucky, the daughter of Orlando Gray and Louisa Bundy Gray. Mrs. Sowder was retired from Baird Moble Homes.

Mrs. Sowder is survived by her son Gary Sowder (Tammi) of Salem, two daughters, Patricia Shepherd (Bruce) of Salem and Sharon Powers of Salem. She is also survived by her brother Estille Gray (Pat) of London, Ky, seven grandchildren: Derek, Jonathan, Natasha, Josh, Jessica, Scottie and Angela, nine great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Cody, Chaylee, Katherine, Emma, Emari, Kasen, Alyssa and Lilynn, and two great great grandchildren, Elodie and Harvee and also her great-grand dog Poppy.

Mrs. Sowder is preceded by her husband Chester Ray, they were married January 23, 1957 and he passed away on January 31, 2015. She is also preceded by her son, Jerry Sowder, her brothers, Robert "Hob" Gray, George Bundy and Fred Gray, her sisters, Phyllis Gray Hampton, Lillie Gray Smith and Nancy Gray Sowder. She is also preceded by two infant siblings, Mary and Larry Gray, and one grandchild, Jarrod.

Services will be held on Monday, March 17 at 1:00p.m. at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 10:00a.m until the time of service, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Winslow Cemetery following the funeral service.
