Mr. Larry James Bowsman age 68 of Salem passed away Saturday, June 1 at 10:31PM at his home.
Mr. Bowsman was born June 4, 1944 in Hillsdale, Michigan the son of James and Marjorie Burger Bowsman. He was a graduate of Salem High School and attended Draughons Business College. He was a farmer all of his life. He was named Master Farmer and Conservation Farmer of the Year. He was on the board of director's for Cattleman's Association, Hog Producers and Soil Conservation. He was Washington County Fair Swine Superintendent. He was also a member of Salem Farmer's Club and First Christian Church in Scottsburg. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife: Phyllis McCracken Bowsman. They were married June 13, 1964. He is also survived by three sons: James Todd Bowsman of Salem, Bradley Keith Bowsman (Betsy) of Monticello and Phillip Bowsman (Beth) of Salem, three brothers: Robert Bowsman (Brenda) of Corydon, Leonard Bowsman (Sue) of Salem and Paul Bowsman (Tina) of Salem, two sisters: Mary Lou Siefker (Dale) of Seymour and Barbara Collins (Link) of Phoenix, Arizona, and six grandchildren: Courtney, Ethan, Ean, Addie, Maddie and Holden Bowsman. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son: Jay Dee Bowsman.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00AM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8PM and Thursday from 9AM-time of service.
