Josephine (Slaten) Hudgens

Mrs. Josephine Hudgens, age 98, of Salem, passed away Friday, July 14 at her home in Salem.

Mrs. Hudgens was born May 22, 1925, in Mitchell, Indiana the daughter of Isaac and Iva Newlin Slaten.  She was a member of Grace Full Gospel Church in Bedford. Josephine had cleaned homes and provided home health care for many years.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband:  Owen Hudgens, three sons:  Timothy “Tim” Hill, William “Bill” Hill, and Nathaniel Kenneth Hill, three brothers, one sister, her parents and one grandson.

She is survived by one son:  Dan Hill and his wife, Tammy of Salem, a stepson:  Carl Hudgens, two stepdaughters:  Opal Swift and Peggy Baker, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 4PM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at a later date in Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Orange County.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 2PM-time of services.
