Mrs. Janice C. Adkins, age 75, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, October 5 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany.
Mrs. Adkins was born August 20, 1946 in Campbellsburg the daughter of George and Vandatta Hougland Compton. Janice was a member of Westside Church of Christ. She was a class of 1964 Salem High School graduate. Janice was retired from Smith Cabinet.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years: Gary Adkins. She is also survived by two sons: Ted Taylor of Salem, and Gary Adkins (Nicole) of Memphis, a daughter: Laraine Moore (Gary) of Bedford, two sisters: Marsha England of Salem, and Cheryl Hattabaugh of Pekin, six grandchildren: Brittany Hunt, Mariah Hunt, Derek Tanksley, Alexa Adkins, Kyrsten Adkins, and Bella Moore, four great-grandchildren: Damion Adkins, Stella Harkness, Miley Harkness, and Dakota Tanksley, and many nieces and nephews, and family and friends who will all miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by a daughter: Gina Tanksley, and her parents.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00PM Friday, October 8 at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 10AM-until time of service at the funeral home.
