James Marvin Nice

Mr. James Marvin Nice, age 79, of Salem, passed away Friday, November 25, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

Jim was born June 26, 1943 the son of Banks and Anna Alspaugh Nice. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Indiana. He was a class of 1961 Salem High School graduate. On January 6, 1962 he married Judy Trueblood Nice. He was a Washington County Councilman for 20 years, and a long-time member of the PTWC board. He was a member of Kansas Church of Christ. Jim was a retired farmer and carpenter.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Judy, his children: Robin (Donnie) Powers of Salem, Lana (Greg) Bishop of Livonia, and Troy (Lisa) Nice of Salem, 8 grandchildren: Jeremiah (Lauren) Powers, Brady (Amy) Bishop, Caleb (Rachel) Powers, Alandra (Austin) Henderson, Cade (Brittney) Powers, Kalen Nice, Courtney (Lathan) Rough, and Lettie Nice, 7 great-grandchildren: Aria Bishop, Remington Powers, Cole Powers, Violet Powers, Khloe Bishop, Lyndon Powers, and Turner Henderson, a brother: Junior Nice of Salem, a sister: Nona Cole also of Salem, a brother-in-law: Harold Strange, and a sister-in-law: Elaine Nice.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Dale Nice, Stanley Nice, Raymond Nice, Robert Nice, Richard (Dick) Nice, Ruby Humphrey, Betty Strange, Anna Mae Zink, Hazel Voyles, Patricia Floyd, and Helen Branaman.

Funeral services will be held at 12PM Thursday at Kansas Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Kansas Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-8PM at the funeral home, and Thursday from 10AM-until time of service at the church.
