Irvin William Miller, born November 13, 1927 to Lawrence E. and Margery Crim Miller, passed away December 7 , 2013 at Meadow View Nursing Home in Salem, Indiana.
He leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Anita Ingram Miller, three stepdaughters: Debra Sturdevant, Jackie Journell (Ron) and Nancy Sizemore. A sister, Loretta McKillip, also survives. He had 8 grandchildren and several great-grandhchildren who also survive.
He loved to play and sing old country music and was a member of Country Blazers and the Down Yonder Band. He played lead guitar and fiddle. He attended the Christian Heritage Chapel for several years. Irvin was raised in Big Spring Church of Christ. He grew up near Horners Chapel area. He attended the Fredericksburg school and was a graduate of Hardinsburg High School.
He loved to fish and hunt and to walk in the woods to see the animals and plants. He loved to build things and had a shop on South West Washington School Road. He was a great gardener. He was a maintenance employee of Goodrich for 27 and 1/2 years and was a custodian for Bradie Shrum School for 10 years. He was a Korean War Army veteran and was an excellent cook.
His parents, 2 brothers: Warren and Paul E. Miller, and a sister: Ruby preceded him in death. His son: Irvin Wayne Miller and his daughter: Marsha Noel also preceded him in death.
He shall sorely be missed by those who loved this gentle, loveable, kind and loving gentleman.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00PM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8PM and Wednesday from noon-time of service.
