Gwendolyn L. Nelson

Mrs. Gwendolyn L. Nelson, age 95, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, December 19 at Baptist Health Floyd.

Mrs. Nelson was born August 24, 1928, in Salem, Indiana, the daughter of Jesse and Mary Payne Mahuron.  She was a retired employee of Smith Cabinet Company and a member of Blue River Baptist Church.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her husband:  Doyle L. “Doc” Nelson, a brother:  Lloyd Mahuron, a sister:  Margaret Hollingsworth and her parents.

She is survived by two sons:  Joel Nelson (Josie) of Salem and Scotty Nelson of Salem, three daughters:  Linda Mayfield (Larry) of Columbus, Marcia Fleenor Hughes (Curt)  of Salem, and Lana Boling of Bloomington, a brother:  Wayne Mahuron (Rosann) of Bedford, eight grandchildren:  Todd Boling, Jason Boling, Julie Barnett (Brian), Ron Fleenor, Anna Nelson, Justin Nelson, Wendy Mayfield, and Michelle Fravel (Tony), and six great-grandchildren:  Jacob Boling, Madison Boling, Jonas Boling, Matthew Fravel, Nicholas Fravel, and Tyler Barnett, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1PM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Blue River Baptist Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday from 11AM-time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blue River Baptist Church.
