Geraldine Louise (Martin) Pickerill

Mrs. Geraldine Louise Martin Pickerill, age 97, of Pekin, Indiana, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023.

Geraldine was born May 26, 1926, to Ralph and Katherine Miller Martin of Pekin.

She graduated from Pekin High School in 1944, and married Charles Pickerill on April 30, 1946.

Geraldine accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age.  She was a farmer’s wife, happy to be putting up hay or any other chore on the farm.  She was a homemaker and was involved in PTA.  She loved to sing gospel songs and loved playing card games such as Rook, Euchre and Solitaire.  In her later years, she quilted and embroidered gifts for her family and friends.  She enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels that came to her feeders outside her windows.

Mrs. Pickerill is survived by her sons:  Dennis Pickerill of Borden, David Pickerill of Pekin, Donald Pickerill of Pekin, her daughter:  Nancy Dietrich (Dan) of Salem, and son-in-law:  J Harris Chinn of Pekin.  She was preceded in death by her husband:  Charles Pickerill, daughters:  Virginia Chinn and Patricia Prichard, and a great-grandson:  Bryce Blair.

She is also survived by her seventeen grandchildren:  Sharon Baker, Tim Baker, Pam Ratts, Ange Arthur, Daniel Dietrich, Joseph Dietrich, Jeff Pickerill, Jenni Brown, Katie Pickerill, Matthew Pickerill, Seth Pickerill, Ethan Pickerill, John Pickerill, Tony Pickerill, Melissa Grether, Tina Leach, and Susie Pickerill, 35 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 10 at Big Springs Church of Christ at 7PM.  Visitation with the family will be from 6-7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to:  St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
