Gary Duane Zink died Sept. 1, 2017 at Hospice House in Valkaria, Florida. He was born September 19, 1955 in Salem, Indiana. He was the son of Lannie and Anna Mae (Nice) Zink. He was a 1973 graduate of West Washington High School. He married Annamarie Sue (Brown) Zink on December 17, 1977. Gary learned from a young age to love the natural world. He fondly remembered his first home, the little house in the woods where his connection with nature blossomed. His love of nature expanded to love of travel as an adult, reaching horizons across our beautiful and diverse United States, exploring Mayan ruins in Central America, snorkeling and diving around the islands of the Eastern Caribbean and Atlantic, admiring the old world of castles, architecture and mountains of Europe. He was an adventurer who was filled with a youthful enthusiasm for new challenges. He took flying lessons, was a scuba diver, enjoyed paddle boarding and body boarding in the Gulf and Atlantic, ocean and river kayaking, motorcycling and hiking, He also loved music and was a knowledgeable connoisseur of classic rock as well as other genres. He was a humorist, enjoyed telling jokes and laughing until he cried and most of all being happy with life. Gary was a master woodworker expanding his knowledge of things built to his profession of General Contractor / Builder. He gave his all to his customers with excellence as his motto. Gary was an all-around good guy, who loved sharing his knowledge and he knew how to do everything! He was a dedicated and loving father, role model and patient and kind teacher to his 2 sons and their friends, and nieces and nephews and anyone that needed help or advice. He was a kind human being who went out of his way to help others without forethought. Gary was a beloved, devoted, and generous husband and soulmate. He was a strong man both physically and spiritually. He had an inner strength and fortitude that amazed all who knew him. His strong faith in God sustained him through his life and into this next chapter of his being. He was preceded in death by his mother Anna Mae (Nice) Zink. He is survived by his wife Annamarie Sue (Brown) Zink. He was survived by two sons John Zink of Indialantic, Florida and Ben Zink of Satellite Beach, Florida. Also survived by his father Lannie Zink and wife Anita Zink and his four sisters Karen Stout and husband Marvin Stout, Glenda Mahuron and husband Joe Mahuron, Lisa Zink, and Melissa Weilbaker and husband Tim Weilbaker. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Elfriede Brown. His was also survived by his brother and sister in laws, Joe and Erika Garloch and Claude and Monica House. He was also survived by his four nieces and five nephews.
As long as we live, he too will live; for he is now a part of us; as we remember him.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00AM at Kansas Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Kansas Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8PM at Weathers Funeral Home.
