Frederick L Baynes

Mr. Frederick Louis Baynes age 90 of Salem passed away Thursday, April 3 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.

Mr. Baynes was born September 28, 1923 in Washington County, Indiana the son of Fred and Leafa Payne Baynes.  He was a retired commercial carpenter.  Mr. Baynes was a birth rite Quaker and attended Blue River Friends Church.  He was a World War II Army veteran and served in the 735 th Tank Battalion.  He was a member of VFW and American Legion.

He is survived by his wife:  Barbara Reynolds Baynes.  They were married August 24, 1958.  He is also survived by a brother:  James Baynes of Bloomington and nephews:  J.D. Lewis, Joel Lewis, Eric Baynes and David Baynes and nieces:  Jan Lewis of Salem, Judy Sanders, Sharon Tower, Polly Pershing, Becky Grantz and Barbara Kroom.

He was preceded in death by a brother:  Paul Leon Baynes, two sisters:  Kathryn Lewis and Betty Richardson and his parents.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00PM at Weathers Funeral Home with Bob Holler officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Friends Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be Saturday from 4:30-7:30PM and Sunday from 9AM-time of service.
