Mr. Frankie L. Hamilton, age 71, of Salem, passed away Thursday, March 18 at his home.
Mr. Hamilton was born October 29, 1949 in Bedford, Indiana the son of Elmer F. and Shirley Ann Gould Hamilton. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church. He was a graduate of West Washington High School, Class of 1967 and went on to earn an Associate’s degree from IUPUI. He was a project engineer for Hannium, Wagel, and Cline Engineering. Frankie was an Army Ranger in the Vietnam War and served with the Ranger 25th Infantry L.R.R.P. He is the most decorated Vietnam veteran of Washington County.
Frankie is survived by his wife: Sherry Lessig Hamilton. They were married December 31, 1971. He is also survived by his son: Bryce Hamilton (Jennifer) of Sellersburg, two brothers: Brett Hamilton (Carmie) of Heltonville and Pat Hamilton (Kathy) of Campbellsburg, a sister: Jan Shelton (David) of Borden, and three grandchildren: Hailey Hamilton, Lydia Hamilton, and Evan Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2PM at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 10AM-time of service. Burial will be private in Claysville Cemetery with military honors.
