Ellen Louisa (Nicholson) Nicholson

March 17, 1918 — July 25, 2012

Ellen Louisa Nicholson was born March 17, 1918 to John C. and Lillian Wesner Nicholson in Washington County, Indiana.  She passed away July 25, 2012 in Prescott, Arizona at the age of 94.  Ellen graduated from Ball State College in Muncie in 1941.  She taught home economics and girls heatlh in Knightstown, Indiana before working at the Indiana Children's Home. Ellen obtained her Masters Degree from Ohio State before returning to Ball State in her capacity as Director of Dining Services.  During these post war years, returning veterans resulted in a large expansion of enrollment at Ball State with Ellen playing a key role in the design and building of Woodworth, Noyer, Studabaker West and East and Lafallet residence halls.  She retired after 28 dedicated years of service.

Ellen was a Deaconess and a faithful member of Hazelwood Christian Church.  She was a charter member of the Muncie branch of Pilot Club.  Ellen also served as Treasuer, Secretary, Vice-President and President of the Muncie AAUW.]

A world traveler, Ellen had enjoyed traveling extensively in the United States, Europe, Asia, Israel, and Egypt.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers:  Stanley and John Nicholson, and great-nephews:  Joshua and Jason Eaton.  She is survived by three nieces:  Barbara Whillock of Lordsburg, New Mexico, Marry Eaton of Prescott, Arizona and Jenise Nicholson of Wakefield, Vermont, and a nephew:  Jerry Nicsholson of Xenia, Illinois.  She was blessed by numerous great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donation in Ellen's name may be made to Parkinson's Association or your local Hospice.
