Dorothy Marie (Sturgeon) VanGilder

Mrs. Dorothy M. VanGilder, age 90, of Sellersburg, passed away Tuesday, April 26 at Baptist Hospital Floyd.

Mrs. VanGilder was born August 30, 1931, in Mifflin, Indiana the daughter of William H. and Marie E. Sturgeon. She was retired employee of GE and Caeser’s Casino.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband:  John VanGilder, a brother:  Eugene Sturgeon, two sisters:  Edna Chupp and Delva Scheerer, and two grandchildren.

She is survived by five daughters:  Debra Nelson of Sellersburg, Diana Cooper (Bill) of Sellersburg, Luvenia McCoy (Tim) of Jeffersonville, Romonda Welbourn (Bob) of Borden, and Lori Davis (Aaron) of Salem, two sisters:  Marjorie Young of Memphis and Louise Evans of Sellersburg, 12 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1PM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday from 11AM-time of service.
