Donald R. Ashley

Mr. Donald R. Ashley, age 77, of Salem, passed away Monday, October 4 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany.

Mr. Ashley was born December 19, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky the son of James Ashley and Eula Hawkins Belviy.  He was raised in New Albany by his mother and step-father:  Frank Belviy.  He was a graduate of New Albany High School, class of 1961.  He was a member of the Army National Guard and Sellersburg Masonic Lodge.  He was a retired employee of Childcraft Industries and a salesperson for spray paint equipment.

Donald is survived by his wife:  Bertha Bryant Sanders Ashley.  They were married in 1995.  He is also survived by two sons:  Scott Ashley of Jeffersonville and Craig Ashley of Louisville, two step-daughters:  Vicki Richardson of Mitchell and Sherri Sanders of Palmyra, a brother:  James R. Ashley II, two sisters:  Jomarie Debreczeny and Patricia A. Crawford, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a step-son:  Kenneth DeWayne Sanders and his parents.

Following Donald’s wishes, cremation was chosen and no services will be held.
