Mr. David B. King, age 83, of Salem, passed away Sunday, February 19 at his home.
Mr. King was born April 5, 1939 in Breathitt County, Kentucky the son of Henry and Lilly Taulbee King. He was the owner of Dave King Construction and built houses for over 30 years. He was a member of Lear Hill Church in Borden. He was a humble, kind, no frills man. His hobbies included horses, fishing, always playing pranks, his quick witted humor, being an auctioneer, and singing. He enjoyed helping everyone, whether it was taking in trash cans, mowing, or shoveling, he was always willing to do whatever was needed.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Cora Mae Smith King on January 30, 2017. He is also preceded in death by a son: Richard King, three brothers: Bobby King, Raymond King, and Bronilla King, six sisters: Pearl Farber, Audrey Brewer, Marietta King, Maxine Delauder, Sylvia Mullins, and Ruby Brooks, and his parents.
He is survived by his daughter: Keely Ray Davis (Chad) who he and Mae raised since she was 2 days old. He loved her as his own, as well as her children: Chelsey, Sydney, and Nyssa. He is also survived by a brother: Paul Barnett, three nieces: Benita, Karen, and Jane, his special friend: Jean, and the best neighbors around Holly and Elizabeth, and Lillie.
Funeral services will be held at 1PM Thursday at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11AM-until time of service.
