Daniel Lee Sorrels

Daniel Lee Sorrels, 78, of Salem, passed away unexpectedly at 12:47P.M., Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Robley Rex VA Medical Center.

Daniel was born September 2, 1945, in Lyon Station, Kentucky. The son of Daniel and Suzanne Rust Sorrels.

Daniel graduated from Pekin High School and was a retired Veteran, brick mason and farmer. He was a longtime member of Old Blue River Christian Church. Daniel loved gardening, mushroom hunting, rock fishing and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by those that know him.

Survivors include his wife: Sherry Danner Sorrels they were married July 31, 1980, children: Richard (Missy) of Waverly, Patrick (Robin) Chastain of Scottsburg, Janis (Matt) Kidd, Jonathan (Sarah), Dwight (Larissa), Jenetta (Patrick) Underwood and Melinda of Salem. Siblings: Betty (Wayne) Pluris of Columbus, Susan McMartin, Calvin (Tina) Sorrels, both of Salem, Lynn Bickel of Edinburg and many grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons, Brian Daniel and Daniel gene. His brothers Dwight Sorrels, Jerome Sorrels, James Sorrels, Allen Ray Sorrels and a sister Beverly Goodson-Ford. Along with one granddaughter Alyssa Chastain.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation will take place with a Memorial Fish Fry on October 28, 2023. Details on time and place will be announced at a later date.
