Mrs. Betty J. Pankey, age 92, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, April 28 at Paoli Health and Living in Paoli.
Mrs. Pankey was born May 25, 1927 in New Albany, Indiana the daughter of George and Hazel Hublard Burres. She was retired from nursing at several hospitals and nursing homes. Betty was a member of the Salem Nazarene Church.
Betty married Eugene Pankey on August 7, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1984.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister: Theresa Receveur, three brothers: Leonard Burres, Thomas Burres and George Burres Jr., one great-grandson and one great-great-grandson.
She is survived by five children: George Edward Pankey (Cheryl) of Fredericksburg , Marilyn Stone (Richard) of Salem, Carolyn Abel (John) of Shoals, Debbie Knight (Duane) of Salem, and Dennis Pankey (Mary) of French Lick, a brother: Ronald Burres of New Albany, a sister: Anna Condra of New Albany, 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be held and burial will be in Veron Cemetery in New Albany.
