Betty Irene (Howell) Humphrey

Mrs. Betty Irene Humphrey, age 89, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, December 16 at her home.

Mrs. Humphrey was born May 31, 1931 in Scott County, Indiana the daughter of Charles and Ethel Byerly Howell.  She was retired from Pekin Plastics and had also worked for Williams Nursing Home and Bata Shoe Factory.  She was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband:  Robert Humphrey, five brothers:  C. Leon, James Dale, Harold, Melvin, and Thomas Howell, three sisters:  Patty Lou Howell, Norma Gabbard, and Beverly Ledford, and her parents.

She is survived by her daughter:  Karen Pate (William) of Corydon, a step-son:  Billy Humphrey (Kathy) of Salem, a brother:  John Howell of Salem, a half- brother:  Irvin Lee Howell of Michigan, a sister:  Katheryn Hunter of Linden, 3 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11AM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday from 4-8PM and Tuesday from 9AM-time of service.

Due to Covid restrictions, only 25 people are allowed in the building at one time for visitation and no food or drinks in the lounge area.
