Benjamin Franklin Pinkston

March 29, 1929 — February 26, 2014

Mr. Benjamin Franklin Pinkston age 84 of Salem passed away Wednesday, February 26 at his home.

Mr. Pinkston was born March 28, 1929 in Fisherville, Kentucky the son of Erastus and Allie Frances Slucher Pinkston.  He retired from the Air Force as Master Sergeant of Arms in 1969 after 23 years of service.   He then owned his painting business form 1972-1986.  He was a member of American Legion Post #41 for 37 years and served as Post Commander for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife:  Louise Carpenter Pinkston.  They were married October 4, 1968.  He is also survived by a son:  Pat Pinkston of San Antonio, Texas, five daughters:  Marshann Stanley of New Albany, Debbie Roll (Mike) of Salem, Sheila Elliott of Salem, Cathy Melocarro (Gary) of San Antonio, Texas and Beverly Pinkston of Campbellsburg, two brothers:  Thomas and Kenny Pinkston both of Kentucky, 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son:  Michael Pinkston, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00PM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be Friday from 4-8PM and Saturday from 9AM-time of service

The family asks that memorial donations be made to Disabled American Veterans of American Legion Post #41.
