Mrs. Barbara Ann Brewer Bills, age 80, of Salem, passed away Saturday, December 24 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Salem, Indiana.
Barbara was born May 9, 1942, in Washington County, Indiana the daughter of Delbert and Mary Gayle Walton Brewer.
Barbara was a member of Walnut Grove Christian Church. She was a retired cafeteria manager at Salem Middle School, where she worked for 37 years. She touched the lives of countless children over the many years she was there. She loved her family wholeheartedly and instilled in them the importance of being together. She loved working outdoors in her beautiful flower gardens. She also enjoyed cross-stitching, decorating and was the best cook and baker that anyone could ever imagine. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas. Therefore, it is only fitting that she joined the Lord on Christmas Eve.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Q. Bills. They were married on February 10, 1961. She is also survived by two sons: Kent Bills (Charlene) of Salem and Kevin Bills of Louisville, Kentucky, and two daughters: Pam Haendiges (Ron) of Pekin, Indiana and Eugenia Scott (Donald) of Sellersburg, Indiana, two sisters: Mary Hopkins of Salem, Indiana and Peggy Walker of Bloomington, Indiana, seven brothers: Charlie Brewer of Salem, Paul Brewer of Borden, Roger Brewer of Seymour, Tom Brewer, Bruce Brewer, Steven Brewer, and Gary Brewer all of Salem, Indiana and six grandchildren: Trey Haendiges (Mallery), Xavier Haendiges, Zakary Bills, Madison Walker (Peyton), Chandler Scott and Collin Scott, and two great-grandchildren: Mabry Haendiges and Hagan Haendiges.
Barbara was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Brewer, two sisters: Carol Hinds and Lois Cauble and her parents.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Research Hospital or American Cancer Society.
