Mr. Arvel B. Jackson age 91 of Salem passed away Sunday, August 24 at 4:15AM at Meadow View Health Care and Rehab.
Mr. Jackson was born May 16, 1923 in Borden, Indiana the son of Dempsey and Lillie Winebrenner Jackson. He was former City of Salem Police Chief and retired from the police department. He was a member of Eastview Church of Christ and Salem Masonic Lodge #21. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Betty Jackson, his parents, two brothers: Chester and Harold Jackson, two sisters: Agnes Bailey and Nettie Jackson and a grandson: James Patrick Horner Jr.
He is survived by his wife: Freda Lawson Jackson. They were married September 14, 2008. He is also survived by his daughter: Regina Ann Ruddell of Westville, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00PM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8PM and Thursday from 9AM-time of service.
Masonic services will be held Wednesday at 7PM.
