Alma Jean (Reed) Doyle

John 11:25-26

“Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life, He who believes in me will never die.”

On Tuesday, August 8, 2023, Alma Jean Doyle, 84, with her loving family by her side, entered eternal life at Green Valley Care Center in New Albany Indiana.  Alma Jean was born on August 16, 1938 to the late Hallie & Squire Reed in Wildcat Kentucky.  Alma was one of 6 children.  She had one sister Dorothy Voyles and 4 brothers Paul (Ruby), Leslie (Mary Lou), Earl, Squire “Junior” all of whom preceded her in death.  She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mamie (Earl) Reed. She was married to Carl Lee Doyle, who preceded her in death (1973).  Together they had 2 children, Michele (Keith) Myers and Bryan (Cathy) Doyle. 4 grandsons Justin (Valerie) Myers, Bradley (Sara) Myers, Austin Doyle, Drew Doyle and 4 great-grandchildren Charlotte, Cate, Colbie Jean and Jude Myers.

Alma Jean was a member of Blue River Baptist Church.  She was a graduate of Oneida Baptist Institute, Oneida, Ky.  Alma Jean absolutely loved her career as a school cook at Pekin Eastern High School where she worked for over 27 years. She was an enthusiastic Curves member.  She thoroughly enjoyed walking, gardening, and spending quality time with her family which almost always would include a fun competitive game of Rook.

The family would like to provide special recognition and gratitude to Green Valley Care Center and their loving staff for the years of love and care they showed Alma. Also a special thanks to Hosparus Health for their love and support throughout their time spent with her.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Weathers Funeral Home. With her nephew Terry Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 1PM-until time of service at the funeral home.
